Printing

Use the spreadsheet below, mostly in conjunction with the Instructions for Mac users. Windows users may occasionally find this helpful, even though you don't usually need it to add printers.

  1. Open the Printers & Scanners system preference pane.
    1. Open System Preferences.
      1. Click on Apple in upper left hand of menu bar.
      2. Go down to "System Preferences."
    2. Click on Printers & Scanners  (second from right in second row).
  2. On the left hand side of the window is a pane with your existing printers and scanners listed.
  3. Click on the "+" to add a new printer. A little menu will pop up, select "Add Printer or Scanner."
  4. Click on "IP" at the top of the ensuing window.
  5. In the "Address" field, enter the IP address of the printer you want to add.
    1. To find the IP address, look for the "Campus Printer Map" item on this Haiku page, which is a link to a Google Sheet document with every printer listed and its IP address.
    2. Open this document and find the name of the printer you want.
    3. In the fourth column over, is the printer's IP address.
    4. OR, printers have a sticker on their fronts with the IP addresses listed.
  6. Unfortunately, the "Name" and "Location" lower down in that window will not show anything useful.
    1. Copy the name from the Google Sheet and paste into the "Name" field.
    2. Copy the location from the Google Sheet and paste into the "Location" field.
  7. Click "Add".
