Schoology logo

Schoology is a Learning Management System (hereafter referred to as an LMS), and at Prep this is your daily driver if you are a faculty member. It is where you will add assignments, syllabi, class materials, and it is your gradebook. You can create your own groups or courses for things like TAP, Clubs, or Advisory. You can use the LMS to contact students and parents, organize departments, and make announcements to students. It can also help you keep your courses and resources organized, do lesson planning, and otherwise manage your classes.

You might also encounter (until June of 2024) reference to Senior Systems or its web-based front end MyBackPack, which is our Student Information System (SIS). You will not use Senior Systems directly at all, and will only use MyBackPack for attendance, end-of-quarter grades and comments, and your rosters and schedules. You can also use it for contacting families. The SIS will change to Veracross next year, though Veracross will serve the exact same purpose as Senior Systems/MyBackPack, and not take the place of Schoology.

You will receive training on Schoology, in addition to all the resources available here. You should also feel totally free to contact help@sfprep.org if you need anything!

This was recorded on January 3rd, 2023, and is just the Zoom feed from the main room of the Schoology In-service. It is unedited, but covers most things, albeit in a way that is hard to search and browse. We will be adding Loom replacements eventually.

A collection of all my Looms on Schoology. Good chance your question is covered here!

The Ideas Portal is where Powerschool allows users to suggest improvements or make requests, and then rank and vote on those suggestions. Powerschool does track requests, and sometimes implements them.
